Ion exchange technologies for water treatment

Our ion exchange technologies are an efficient and reliable way to treat water, allowing for the selective removal of unwanted ions and achieving optimal chemical purity. Ion exchange resins, made from special polymers, operate on the principle of ion exchange: water flows through a bed of beads with charged sites that attract and retain ions from the solution and replace them with ions of similar charge from the resin.

Cation exchange resins effectively exchange positively charged ions (e.g,. H⁺ or Na⁺), while anion exchange resins focus on negatively charged ions (e.g., OH⁻ or Cl⁻). This technology is key to achieving high water quality and effective removal of unwanted substances in various industrial and drinking water applications.

Applications:

  • Water softening to remove calcium and magnesium ions and prevent scale formation.
  • Demineralization of water to produce high-purity water for industrial processes.
  • Removal of specific contaminants such as nitrate, arsenic, and heavy metals from drinking water.

Key Features:

  • Commonly used in combination with other treatment methods for comprehensive water purification.
  • Highly effective at selectively removing specific ions from water.
  • Resins can be regenerated and reused by washing with a concentrated salt solution (for cation resins) or an acid/alkali solution (for anion resins).

Material with exceptional
adsorption properties

Activated carbon is a highly porous form of carbon that is used to adsorb impurities from liquids and gases. Water or gas passes through activated carbon, where contaminants are adsorbed onto the surface of the carbon particles. The large surface area of activated carbon provides numerous sites for adsorption.

Applications:

  • Air purification to remove volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and odors.
  • Removal of organic compounds, chlorine, and odors from drinking water.
  • Treatment of industrial wastewater to remove organic pollutants and hazardous substances.

Key Features:

  • Can be used in both granular and powdered forms, depending on the application.
  • Effective at removing a wide range of organic contaminants.
  • Does not require electricity for operation.
